Hedge Laying Somerset and Devon

Hedge laying is a seasonal job that we carry out between October and March when birds have finished nesting in the hedges and also trees and shrubs don’t grow.

A well-laid hedge looks great and is used for many different reasons. The main reason is to create a living fence and its ideal for stopping sheep, cattle and other animals escaping. 

Over the years many different hedge-laying styles have evolved for the farming practices in that particular region. In addition the types of trees and shrubs that are in those regions.

Hedge laying styles include Somerset, Devon, Yorkshire, Midland and South of England. There are different methods for each of the styles and can include stakes, rails and binders to create the desired effect.
